Smoke DZA‘s feelings are clear about the 2016 election on his new surprise release Don’t Pass Trump the Blunt.
“The release was inspired by the election and how terrible it would be if Trump was actually the president,” Smoke DZA tells Billboard over email about the title. “We were all sitting around and talking bout how much we didn’t f— with Trump ….. One of the homies said ‘[I] would never pass Trump the blunt’ as he was passing me the blunt. I laughed about that sh–. We all did, and basically birthed the Don’t Pass Trump the Blunt campaign right there.”

He adds that a cameo from George Kush, his alter-ego that stems from the 2010 stoner-centric mixtape George Kush Da Button, is perfectly timed with his forthcoming trek, the 2016 Smokers Club Tour. “The fact that I’m going on tour, I felt the timing was perfect for George Kush to reappear. I had over 100 songs laying around for different projects so I went into the stash & whipped up Don’t Pass Trump the Blunt. I don’t approve of anything having to do with the Donald, his politics or his platforms.”
The “100K” rapper also explained why he wasn’t here for Trump and revealed who he’s rooting for in the presidential race. “I’m not a Trump fan at all based on the number of comments he’s made that I just don’t support,” he says. “I’m actually rooting for Bernie [Sanders] because I think he’s the right man for the job.”
